I find it very grounding to be in tune with the change of each season and take notice of the rhythms of nature. Spring fills me with joy, anticipation, hope and feels renewed.

Each season carries with it an energy, and as humans, who are a part of nature, we need to connect with this energy and engage with our surroundings. When doing so, we feel most at peace, inspired by the natural world and my favourite- the feeling that we are a part of something much bigger than each of us.
Spring brings new life on farms as the earth swells with new growth bursting up to greet the warm sun.

To feel the season, I suggest you go into nature and use your senses to immerse yourself. What do you hear, feel or taste, what do you see and take notice of the smells. I especially like to do this with my children as I find it a very calming exercise for us all.

+ spend more time outside as the weather warms and feel the sun on your cheeks (my kids and I recently laid out on a hill, out of the wind and had the warm sun on our faces)
+ acknowledge your energy coming up from your roots, just as nature’s plants are. The perrenials and trees are doing this
+ embrace this new season of growth in your life, and treat it as a reset in your life for habits and goals
+ drink a green tonic or eat a salad of fresh leafy greens
+ feel your hands in the earth, warming on the surface then cooler deeper down, and plant seeds in your garden (and before we can direct sow, we can be starting seeds indoors!)
+ go outside in the early morning and listen to the many returning birdsongs
+ search for early wildflower blooms like crocus, three flowered avens, golden beans/ buffalo beans
+ deeply inhale the lilac flowers and fruit tree blossoms
+ make a bouquet of coloured tulips, furry pussy willows or bright daffodils
+ walk through a puddle, you're never too old!
+ forage early greens like nettle for a tasty soup
+ try picking new, young spruce tips to ferment into honey for a tasty syrup
+ marvel at the wonder of nature coming back to life and give gratitude
However you embrace this change of season, know you are one of many who are doing the same, all in our own unique way.
